Updates from 2010- Washington DC
In October we flew over to Washington DC with Tanner's family. The perfect time of year to go! We stayed in a really nice hotel in the perfect location to get to everything. The first night we got there we took a night tour to see everything. Everyday we were non-stop, buses, trains, taxis.. put our walking shoes on and we hit the town. It's really neat to be in the East coast, everything is so different and has so much history, old brick buildings, mom and pop shops etc.We pretty much saw all that you could see in the city and ate the best food we could find, and of course us girls had to add some shopping here and there. It was cool to see Georgetown too, what a fun place to go to college, cute little town.
The Luster kids!
It was soo much fun! I can't wait for our next adventure together!

Updates from 2010- New Zealand
Near the end of 2010 we went on two amazing trips! First one to New Zealand with my family and to Washington DC with Tanner's family.
New Zealand was sooo pretty. My family flew over there and met up with Ben's family. Ben's mom's family is all back there so we got to visit them. We landed in Christchurch, rented caravans and hit the road. We would stop in trailer parks or on the side of the road where there was enough space for all 23 trailers I think? It was a blast! We were there for 9 days and almost each day we would pack up and move to a different place around the island. Most of the time the roads were windy and we would get car sick. One time we had our nephews, Gino, Kade, Hudson, and Dylan with us. We rented a caravan with Doyle and Jennifer.. which means for sure a good time! haha Anyways we were going down this crazy road, Gino was sitting on my lap in the front seat, (left side of the car) and Tanner was driving.. Kade had to go to the bathroom and it was way to bumpy to walk into the bathroom soo of course Aunt Tess let's him open the side window and go! While Gino is sitting on my lap vomiting out the window. Hudson is asleep in our bed and Doyle is trying to help Jennifer not throw up in the back. These are the moments I live for! I seriously love them!
Uncle T and the twins heading up the mountain to slide down
We went fishing one day on Ben's uncle's boat..
This is at the French pass where we stayed a couple days at Ben's aunt and uncle's property..

Most of the time we were relaxing, playing catch phrase, hanging out with the kids, eating good food and playing leg wrestling :).. I would definitely go back, the flight was 12 hours red eye and went by fast.

Aspen
Britt and I went to Bree's wedding in Aspen a couple weeks ago. Bree is a girlfriend that we went to college with. Britt was her matron of honor and I read some verses in her wedding. Aspen was beautiful! Neither one of us has been there before..Britt and I flew into Denver and rented a car (first time either one of us has rented a car!) and we were off to drive 4 hours to Aspen.. on the drive I remembered I forgot my running shoes for a hike we were going on Friday morning so we had to find a Nordstrom.. twist my hand.. We drove for 1 hour around Denver.. on the way we saw a Homegoods, and HAD to see if it was different then Phoenix Homegoods, and by then we were hungry and had to eat dinner... SOOO what we thought a 4 hour drive would be turned into getting into Aspen at around 10pm instead of 7pm? Next day we got up met up with the bridesmaids and went on a 2 hour hike, had lunch and pedis and got checked into our hotel... The wedding was so pretty, the leaves around us were red and yellow and it was chilly outside! We had so much fun, and Britt and I always love our road trips... Here are a couple pics from the hike.. Britt has the rest of the pics..

A couple of my favorite recipes
I absolutely LOVE my slow cooker! I use it at least twice a week for dinners.. Usually on Sunday I will organize what I am making for dinner for the week. I have decided that this makes it sooo much easier to be prepared, and to do my grocery shopping. I know exactly what I am cooking and I am not stressed about dinner. Tanner usually requests for low carb dinners so when I find some that he loves I put them in my recipe book. This week we are only here a couple nights so here are two. Both are really good! Enjoy!
Slow cooker Tortilla soup
4 boneless chicken breast (I just use 2 for me and T)
2 cans diced tomatoes(15 ounce each) undrained, I usually put in the bullet to smash the tomatoes so they are not chunky for T
1 cup chicken broth
1 can diced green chiles
1 yellow onion, diced
2-3 cloves of garlic, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro
1/2 cup shredded cheese
2 avocados, 2 limes
Rinse and cut fat off chicken.
Place tomatoes, chicken broth, chiles, onion, garlic, cumin in a small bowl, mix and place over chicken.
Cook HIGH 3 hours, or LOW 6-8 hours
When the chicken is cooked, take out of slow cooker, shred with 2 forks and place back into the slow cooker.
Serve with avocado, cheese, cilantro and lime
Slow cooker Cream cheese chicken
4-6 Chicken breast- (I just use 2 for me and T)
1/2 cup chicken stock
1 10.5 oz. can cream of chicken
2 Tablespoons dry Italian dressing mix
1/4 chopped onions
2 Tablespoons of butter
Salt and pepper to taste
1- 8 ounce package of cream cheese
Rinse and cut fat off of chicken
Place chicken in slow cooker
